September is Attendance Awareness Month!

Did you know that regular school attendance is one of the most important factors for academic success? Missing just two days of school a month can make it harder to keep up with lessons, and a habit of poor attendance in middle school can lead to lower grades in high school.

At Ocala STEAM Academy, we're committed to helping every student succeed, and that starts with being in class every day. We understand that sometimes absences are unavoidable, but we encourage everyone to prioritize school attendance as much as possible.

Why is attendance so important?

  • Academic Success: Every day in the classroom is a chance to learn something new and build on previous knowledge. Consistent attendance helps students stay on track and perform better on assignments and tests.

  • Social and Emotional Growth: School isn't just about academics. Being in school allows students to build friendships, participate in extracurricular activities, and develop important social skills.

  • Future Opportunities: Developing a habit of good attendance now will set students up for success in high school and beyond, whether they choose to go to college, trade school, or directly into the workforce.
